YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received on Wednesday the heads of Security Council delegations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member-states and the organization’s Secretary-General Nikolay Bordyuzha. The guests attended the meeting of the Committee of CSTO Security Council Secretaries in Yerevan.

The President welcomed the guests, stressing that as a country chairing the CSTO, Armenia attaches great importance to the aforementioned meeting, which creates good bases for the meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council to be held in Yerevan in October.

Sarsgyan also underscored the importance of the CSTO Collective Security Strategy adoption, which is among the priorities of the Armenian chairmanship in CSTO. The Armenian President expressed satisfaction with the fact that a number of issues directly linked with the implementation of those priorities were included in the agenda of the meeting of the Committee of CSTO Security Council Secretaries.

For his part, CSTO Secretary-General Nikolay Bordyuzha briefed the President on the results of the Committee meeting held in Yerevan, including the signed documents, noting that it was held in a constructive climate and proved to be productive.

Bordyuzha especially singled out the additional measures to develop the CSTO member-states’ collective security systems in the area of fight against international terrorism and extremism, as well as the steps aimed at regulating the efforts exerted in that fight.  

President Sargsyan wished good luck to the Committee of CSTO Security Council Secretaries in implementing their further activities.
