The US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) is examining the possibility of cooperation with American companies that produce Russian weapons. Tampa Bay periodical writes that SOCOM is looking for American companies that are interested in the production of Kalashnikov rifles , as well as in production of " non-standard" weapons for the US and its NATO allies.

Later, the SOCOM spokesman Matt Allen confirmed this information via  the Washington Post: "For this solicitation, we are exploring capabilities and capacity within [the United States’] industrial base to build the types of weapons many of our foreign partners use," said Allen.

By saying " non-standard" weapons Allen means the Kalashnikov rifle,  the Dragunov sniper rifle , the Russian medium and large caliber guns , as well as aviation armament of 14.5 mm in diameter, writes the periodical. According to Allen the production of such weapons by the US companies will have a positive impact on foreign partners , since they are more familiar with those  weapons.
