The Health Minister of Latvia Gunther Belevics, who is suspected of abusing his power, abandoned his parliamentary mandate after resignation, reports TAAS with a reference to LETA.

On Friday Belevics admitted that he received medical services of the Cancer Center free of charge and without waiting in line, and submitted a resignation to the Prime Minister Maris Kuchinskis . The Latvian Bureau of Preventing and Combating Corruption began an investigation of a possible abuse of power .

The acting Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis became the temporary Minister of Health. The most plausible candidate for the Minister of Health is Anda Chakshu, who is the head of Children's Hospital, reports TASS.
