Argentina's former public works minister Jose Lopez, who served in the former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner's office, was arrested in church while burying $ 8.5 million in the ground, reports Lenta.

Lopez was arrested by the police in a church area located in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. One of the local residents called the police, noticing that an unauthorized person had entered the church premises at night. The police searched the car of Lopez and found 160 piles in dollars, euros, Japanese yen, and Qatari Riyals, as well as jewelry, expensive watches, and weapons, he had not been licensed to own. Lopez tried to bribe the police, at that, and when he failed, he told the clergy that he was going to gift the money for the needs of the church, whereas the police made an attempt to rob him.

Now Lopez is under arrest. The President Mauricio Macri called it a shameful story, at the same time mentioning how successfully they fight against corruption in Argentina. In 2015 there have taken place changes in the Argentinian government. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, who was in the left wing, left the presidential office, after she had served for two terms. Mauricio Macri, a new right-wing opposition candidate, became the president.
