French Ambassador to Moscow Jean-Maurice Ripert has been summoned to the Russian MFA in connection with the detention of Russian fans, the MFA press-service reports.
“The attention of the French diplomat was drawn to the discriminatory and non-selective nature of the measures taken in regard to the Russian citizens. Pursuant to the decision of Marseille’s Prosecutor, all the 43 people, including three drivers, are detained for 48 hours for conducting investigation,” the statement reads.
Moscow considers it unacceptable that “the Russian consular services in France had not been informed about the happening.”
On Tuesday morning the French law enforcement authorities stopped a bus with the representatives of the All-Russian Union of Fans and other fans of the Russian football squad, who were heading for Lille to attend Euro 2016 Russia-Slovakia match. There were 43 people in the bus. All of them were taken into custody and moved to Marseille to establish their involvement in the clashes in the French city on June 11. 11 Russians were set free afterwards.
