Turkish policymakers are very down-to-earth behind their rhetoric against Germany in the aftermath of June 2 Bundestag resolution, Mr Nurhan Davutyan, professor of economics at Kadir Has University, Istanbul, told Armenian News - NEWS.am.
He does not believe one could expect investment ties to deteriorate after the resolution. Nor is it likely that authorities of Turkey would intentionally target German businesses in Turkey to make their life harder.
“I do not believe that would happen. Behind the rhetoric, Turkish decision makers are quite sophisticated. In fact, when confronted with a similar question, PM Yıldırım explicitly ruled out emotional reactions,” Davutyan reminded.
According to the data of the German Embassy in Turkey, Germany is the leading country of origin for foreign direct investments in Turkey. Currently, there are 6 thousand companies operating in the country with whole or partial German capital.
