Former member of U.S. Congress Jean Schmidt will have to pay a $2,500 fine for not reporting legal assistance provided by a pro-Turkish group.
The Turkish Coalition of America Inc. helped Schmidt in several legal disputes, cincinnati.com reported. The Federal Election Commission said the Coalition will also have to pay a fine of $25,000 fine.
The decision comes five years after Schmidt’s political opponent David Krikorian leveled the accusation.
In an emailed statement Krikorian said it was a victory of justice and called to revoke ‘charitable’ status of the Turkish Coalition of America.
