Board member of Armenia’s Ameriabank, Dr. Noubar Afeyan has been elected member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Board of Trustees.

MIT is one of the leading universities in the world and  comes the third according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities.

Noubar Afeyan has been Ameriabank’s board member since 6 July 2010. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from MIT. Afeyan has also authored numerous scientific publications and patents.  

Besides, he is the founder and CEO of Flagship Ventures. The company makes investments in start-ups operating in areas of life science and high technology, currently managing $1.4 billion in capital.  

During his 30-year career, Afeyan has co-founded and helped build 25 life science and technology startups. 

Currently he is also the president or council chairman of a number of state and private organizations.
