Lhasa, the administrative center of Tibet Autonomous Region, claims to receive a status of the world cultural heritage city.
According to the Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Lhasa has a history of more than 4,000 years. That is the reason that the city is full of famous historical sites. Lhasa contains the whole essence of the Tibetan culture , reports Xinhua . The official says that Lhasa is a very lively and, at the same time, old city . The streets and buildings in Lhasa have witnessed many historical events.
The government has allocated more than 1.5 billion yuan for the preservation of the old city. Seven streets and 56 buildings have received a status of protected objects. In total there are 76 objects of cultural heritage in the Tibetan capital , 292 temples , palaces, and other buildings. Some objects , including the Potala Palace ,the palace of Dalai Lama , that is considered to be a part of world heritage.
