YEREVAN. – The staff of the Human Rights Defender (Ombudsman) of Armenia continues its urgent situation work, and visits are made to the police stations where those who were detained on Sunday are kept.
The grounds for their detention are also being examined.
As a result of work carried out with police, about 50 people were released so far from detention.
A group of armed men stormed into a police regiment, on early Sunday morning, and took several police officers hostage. One officer, deputy regiment commander Artur Vanoyan, was killed. In addition, four police officers and one of the people who participated in the attack were wounded.
