YEREVAN. – Given the latest speech by Armenian president the authorities will continue repressive actions, analyst Ara Papian believes.

He recalled that during the seizure of police regiment and surrender of the armed group, President Sargsyan spoke only twice. His speeches, however, were not addressed to the people, the armed group only. He emphasized “you and we”.

Papian said the Armenian leader expressed condolences to the families of the killed police officer, but said nothing about 17-year-old-teen who lost his eye.

“He commended law enforcement agencies instead of announcing resignations. A police compound was seized, but there was no adequate response,” Papian added.

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Monday held a meeting at the presidential palace with the representatives of the different segments of the society: cultural figures, representatives of healthcare, mass media, public and political figures and spoke about the situation following surrender of “Sasna Tsrer” armed group.
