U.S. State of Department felt relief learning about the end of Erebuni standoff, says the statement posted on the Voice of America website.

The use of violence to achieve political changes in Armenia is unacceptable, the statement says.

In a statement issued on July 30, the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan expressed concern over the shocking images and credible reports of violence and excessive use of force by the police to disperse protestors during the night of July 29-30.

Washington welcomes Armenian government’s eagerness to investigate the reports, and will follow the process closely. The State Department urged the government to display equal and fair approach within the law to the members of the group that seized the police compound within the rule of law.
