Russia will not be involved into the new , costly arms race but will take care of ensuring national security. That was a response of Mikhail Ulyanov, the head of the Arms’ control and non-proliferation department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Department in an interview with the RIA Novosti to the comment that the US is preparing to produce new B61-12 nuclear bombs .

" As far as I understand we talk about the preparatory stage of so-called nuclear bombs’ unified production. It is primarily designed to be installed in five European country ( Belgium , Germany , Italy , Netherlands, and Turkey ) in order to update the American nuclear arsenal that had already been there" , said the diplomat.

Ulyanov added that according to the available information, a certain number of moderated bombs will be stored in the United States, as "a reserve". According to him, the negative consequences of switching to new nuclear weapons will be tangible for the global security in 2020. "It is no surprising that some American experts called the new bombs more" ethical, since their use will have less extensive consequences for the humanity. However, that’s bad, since the characteristics of such weaponry will increase the temptation to its use, "he explained.
