YEREVAN. - Relatives of Sasna Tsrer armed group member Armen Lambaryan have appealed to attorney Inessa Petrosyan to involve her as an attorney, but the Special Investigation Service of Armenia (SIS) has refused.

“The relatives of Armen Lambaryan turned to me with a statement which I sent to the Investigative Department of the National Security Service (NSS) and then SIS, but the head of SIS refuses to involve me as an attorney. I can’t even learn about Lambaryan’s standing and his health condition,” the attorney said.

In Petrosyan’s words, different alerts have been received on that Armen Lambaryan was tortured, and, according to her, for this reason neither the attorney nor the relatives are allowed to visit him. “This raises concerns. I suspect that there are certain problems related to Armen Lambaryan. Alerts have been received that he has been tortured but I can’t give any names,” Petrosyan added.
