Islamic State terrorist group has taken responsibility for the attacks on the police workers in Charleroi, Belgian. Their statement says that the man who attacked women was a “soldier” of the IS. The IS related Amaq agency reports that the attack took place on August 6 in response to the calls “to attack the citizens “ of the coalition states that implement  bombing in certain parts of Iraq and Syria, reports the DW.

The Belgian authorities described the incident as a terrorist act . The attacker was a 33 -year-old Algerian who has lived in Belgium since 2012 . He was known to the police for various crimes that were not related to terrorism . After the attack, one  of the policewoman was delivered to the hospital with a facial injury, whereas the other had with minor injuries .
