U.S. new administration which will come to the power after the elections on November 8 should carry out policy combined with elements of control and tactical interaction and strategic stability in relation to Russia, U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden.
At the same time he wrote in the Foreign Affairs magazine that Russia's actions in Crimea and eastern Ukraine violate the fundamental principle, established after World War II in Europe, the sovereignty and inviolability of borders
Biden reminded of decision of Obama’s administration to increase expenses on strengthening of NATO in Europe by $ 3.4 billion, as well as on plans to deploy forces in Poland and the Baltic States, TASS reported.
He believes that the next administration should redouble its efforts to strengthen NATO and the partnership with the EU.
At the same time, he noted that while strengthening the basic institutions of the West it does not necessary to return to the simplistic thinking characteristic of the Cold War period. The U.S. should be open for cooperation with Russia when their interests coincide, as they have demonstrated this in the agreement on Iran's nuclear program, as well as in new agreement on strategic arms reduction. In addition, it is difficult to imagine how a war in Syria can be completed without reaching some kind of interim agreement between Washington and Moscow.
