The representatives of the Armenian community of Ukraine will take an active part in the solemn events on occasion of the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence on Wednesday, Analitikaua reports. 

According to the Executive Director of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine, David Mkrtchyan, the representatives of the organization will also take part in the arts and cultural event “Solemn Academy “Ukrainians of the world to Ukraine” on Monday, which will be held in the National Opera of Ukraine. The event will be attended by the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

The Armenian Diaspora of Ukraine is one of the largest and most organized ones.

Armenians played significant role in the history of Ukraine. They appeared in the territory of modern Ukraine back in the 11-12th centuries. During their centuries-long stay on Ukrainian lands, the Armenians left significant material and spiritual heritage.

The Armenian Diaspora integrated in the Ukrainian community, preserving its cultural, national and religious peculiarities. Currently, the Armenian community of Ukraine is several thousand: national communities and non-governmental and cultural organizations operate in many cities. Armenians build churches and schools, also developing the national culture.  

The Union of Armenians of Ukraine headed by Vilen Shatvoryan became the only pan-Ukrainian organization, which unites all the Armenian organizations operating in the country.
