German Chancellor Angela Merkel doesn't intend to distance herself from a Bundestag resolution on the 1915 massacre of Armenians by Ottoman forces that has strained ties with Turkey, the head of the Christian Democrats in parliament said.
Head of the Christian Democrats in parliament Volker Kauder said at the meeting of party members that such a position Merkel expressed during the meeting with him.
According to him, Merkel noted that she had voted to support the resolution during a party meeting before the vote in Bundestag, although she was not present when the vote took place in June, Reuters reported.
