Leader of the Islamist Party Mir Quasem Ali, who was convicted of the Pakistan war crimes in 1971, was hanged in Bangladesh on Saturday, AP reports.
Ali was hanged on Saturday at about 10:30 pm local time after he was allowed to meet with his family members in Kashimpur jail. Earlier, the Supreme Court refused the appeal on reconsidering the death sentence.
According to the agency, Ali became the fifth Jamaat-e-Islami party leader to be executed since 2010 when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formed an ad hoc tribunal of war crimes.
