Usually our meetings with Putin take place in an open, honest, businesslike manner, and this didn't become an exception, U.S. President Barack Obama stated following the results of negotiations with the Russian colleague Vladimir Putin which continued longer, than has been initially planned, RIA Novosti reported.

In particular, according to the U.S. President, heads of states discussed the situation in Syria. Obama noted that they had  productive discussions on how the real ceasefire regime will look that will allow Russia and the U.S. focus on the common enemies, such as the Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra and also added that  so far Moscow and Washington failed to bring their positions closer.

The U.S. leader said that together with Putin they instructed the heads of the U.S. and Russian foreign ministries, John Kerry and Sergey Lavrov to continue working on reaching an agreement on Syria.

The meeting of U.S. and Russian presidents took place within the G20 summit which started on September 4 in the Chinese city of Hangzhou.
