YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Monday held a meeting with the Executive Director of the UN World Food Program (WFP), Ertharin Cousin, and participants of the 18th Global Child Nutrition Program held in Yerevan.

Welcoming the guests, the President thanked for holding in Armenia the first event in kind in the region, Armenian President’s press-service reports.

The sides expressed satisfaction with the success of Armenia in the recent years in terms of providing school meal. Sarsgyan highly appreciated WFP’s support and the Sustainable School Meal project implemented by it, in the framework of which nearly 83,000 students have been provided with food. The President assured that the project will be of continuous nature.

Sargsyan also underscored the importance of implementing the UN Sustainable Development 2030 program, whose 17 goals concern the provision of food to children and mothers.

Director of the WFP Armenian Office Pascale Micheau and President of the Russian Social and Industrial Food Service Institute Vladimir Chernigov were decorated with the medal of Gratitude.
