At least 49% of U.S. residents considers that the authorities don't undertake necessary measures for prevention of terrorist attacks, 33% believe that anti-terrorist measures break personal freedom of citizens, Pew Research Center reported.

According to the survey, 40% of Americans believe that now terrorists have more opportunities to organize a terrorist attack than it was in September 2001. This figure has become a record for the last 14 years.

The latest national survey by Pew Research Center, conducted Aug. 23-Sept. 2  among 1,201 adults, finds that the growth in the belief that terrorists are now better able to launch a major strike on the U.S. has come almost entirely among Republicans. Only 58% of Republicans and 31% of Democrats say terrorists are now better able to strike the U.S. than they were in the past.

A quarter of respondents believe that potential terrorists have less opportunities to arrange the large-scale attack in the U.S., 31% of respondents consider that the situation has slightly changed since 2001.
