The US economy may lose $ 1 trillion, despite the forecasts, if the Republican candidate Donald Trump becomes the president, reports the Reuters, based on the conclusion of Oxford Economics’ experts. The policy of Trump based on tax cuts , protectionist trade policies , migrants’ deportation may have negative consequences.
" Should Mr. Trump prove more successful in achieving adoption of his policies, the consequences could be far-reaching – knocking 5 percent off the level of U.S. GDP relative to baseline and undermining the anticipated recovery in global growth," says the Oxford Economics.
The basic scenario of the Oxford Economics is that in 2017 the US GDP will have 2 % growth , which in 2021 will reach 18.5 trillion dollars. The experts believe that this will happen, if Hillary Clinton wins, and the “Congress emerges - between a Republican U.S. House of Representatives and a Democratic U.S. Senate.”
However, in case the success accompanies Trump, the GDP will be reduced to 17.5 trillion dollars in 2019.
