The plastic waste in the World Ocean will exceed the mass of fish, reports the RIA Novosti. This was announced by Deputy Secretary of State Catherine Novelli.

" What experts are saying is if we continue at this pace, by 2050, there’s going to be more plastic than fish in the ocean," said Novelli, reminding that more than 3 billion people receive protein mainly from fish.  

In addition , 30 % of the carbon dioxide industrial waste is discarded into ocean, due to which ocean acidity  has increased by 26 %. By the end of the century due to global warming the ocean level can rise by 1.2-1.8 meters.
