The Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari  has publicly apologized  for plagiarizing Obama's 2008 victory speech, reports the AP.

On September 8, Buhari announced the launch of the campaign  "Change Begins With Me," which aims to strengthen patriotism of the Nigerian people and order in the country in the context of reforms. As it turned out, several sentences of his speech completely repeated Obama’s 2008 performance. This was followed by the criticism of the local media. In particular ThisDay journalist Adeola Akinremi  denounced "the moral problem of plagiarism on a day Mr. President launched a campaign to demand honesty and integrity."

In response , Buhari  apologized and said that he would punish those responsible for the text of the speech. Obama and Buhari will meet next week at the United Nations, reports the AP.
