Iraq has required an emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss the issue of the Turkish troops in the northern part of the country, reports the RIA Novosti.

Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested to convene an urgent meeting of the Security Council to discuss the Turkish violation of the Iraqi territories and the interference in the Iraqi internal affairs. The request also included Iraq's request to the Security Council to assume its responsibilities towards Iraq and adopt a resolution that would bring to an end the current Turkish breach for the Iraqi sovereignty and the lack of respect for the principle of good-neighbourliness via releasing provocative statements," reads the statement of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

Iraq's parliament adopted a resolution on Tuesday, which condemned the presence of the Turkish military near Mosul, in Bashiqa.
