The presence of the Turkish troops in Iraq and their actions must be fully coordinated with Baghdad, reports the TASS referring to the deputy spokesman of the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq, who commented on Ankara's decision to extend the deployment of Turkish troops in Mosul region.

As he said, any aid in Iraq should be based on the principles of the UN Charter, including the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of another state. Therefore, the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urges the Turkish government to make sure that all the operations carried out in Iraq be completely coordinated with the Iraqi government.

He reminded that Ankara and Baghdad held consultations on the settlement of the created situation. According to him, the UN Secretary-General urged the countries to continue the dialogue and expressed his readiness to provide mediation services, if needed.
