The French President François Hollande, the Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed a possibility of holding a “Norman Quartet" summit on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine, reports the RIA Novosti, referring to the press service of the Elysee Palace. The participants of the meeting agreed that Berlin meeting should be constructive and useful in the context of regulating the crisis in the eastern part of Ukraine.

The administration of Hollande also said that they outlined the main directions of the future talks. Among them are ensuring a sustainable cease-fire in the eastern Ukraine, withdrawing troops, and accelerating the OSCE observers’ unimpeded access, implementing local elections in accordance with the OSCE regulations and the Ukrainian laws. Earlier it was reported, that “Norman Quartet’s” meeting could have taken place in Berlin on October 19. Hollande will discuss this issue with the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Thursday.
