A young man and his minor pregnant girlfriend suspected of plotting to kill in the name of the Islamic State terrorist group were put under formal investigation, Reuters reported quoting a judicial source.

The couple was arrested in the Paris suburb of Noisy-le-Sec on Tuesday, the details of the case became clear on Friday.

According to the investigation, the two partners, aged 21 and 17, were in contact with Islamist State militant Rachid Kassim via the Telegram encrypted messaging system.

Kassim is suspected of having participated in several attacks or attempted attacks in France.

According to the police, he is in the Syrian-Iraq region now.
