Last year number of hate crimes against minorities in the United States increased by 7%, reports the Voice of America, referring to the FBI data. Representatives of FBI note, that the number of such crimes against Muslims has sharply increased, almost by 70 percent. The number of hate crimes in 2015 was 5850, whereas in 2014 it was 5479.

In 2015, hate crimes against Muslims made 4.4 per cent of the overall hate crimes, whereas crimes committed on religious grounds made 21 per cent. Such crime rates reached the highest level in 2015, following terrorist attacks committed in 2001.
