A single trademark protection register will be created in the Eurasian Economic Union for all of its five member-states.

Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), Timur Suleimanov, told the aforementioned to journalists in the framework of the 4th international conference “Anticounterfeit 2016”held in Yerevan Tuesday.

In his words, the current edition of the EAEU Customs Code has been supplemented with a point, according to which member-states must keep a single customs register of intellectual property objects.  The member-states have already come to terms on this at an agreement level, which has been incorporated in the Customs Code.

Accordingly, the national customs trademark registers will be combined. Then trademark holders of one country will get the protection of not only their own country, but also other EAEU states. “No contentious goods will make its way to the EAEU without the agreement of the trademark holders,” Suleimanov stressed.
