YEREVAN. – The Iran-Armenia railway construction project is back in circulation. It is posted on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment of Armenia, as an investment project, reported Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Times) newspaper.

“At present, the ministry is enlisting investment projects, posting [them] on its official website, and trying to find investments for them.

“The project requiring the biggest investment is the very [aforesaid] railway, which is estimated at 3.2 billion [US] dollars.

“The idea of this railway, linking Armenia to Iran, was born 12 years ago. And 8 years ago, [President] Serzh Sargsyan officially announced that Armenia is starting to build it in the coming years.

“But it has not interested any major investor, to this day,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
