Transparency International anti-corruption non-governmental organization has issued its Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2016.

In this study, countries are classified according to analysts’ and entrepreneurs’ assessment on the level of corruption in the public sector. The lower a position a country has in the CPI, the level of corruption perceptions is that much higher there.  

The 2016 study covers 176 countries, among which Armenia is ranked 113th.

In the CPI 2015, however, Armenia ranked 95th among 167 countries.

Armenia’s neighbors Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan are 44th, 75th and 123rd, respectively, while Iran and Russia share the 131st spot in the new list.

Denmark and New Zealand are ranked first in the CPI 2016, whereas Somali is last.
