Washington expects Ankara to temporarily detain the opposition Islamic preacher Fethullah Gulen, said the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in a joint press conference with the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who is on a visit to Turkey, RIA Novosti reported.

"We discussed the extradition of Fethullah Gulen and passed our requests in this regard. We expect, that the US government will take some steps in that direction and put him under temporary arrest," the Turkish minister said.

There took place a military coup attempt on July 16 of 2016  in Turkey. The Turkish authorities accuse the organization of Fethullah Gulen, who lives in the United States. Gülen himself condemned the rebellion and said , that he was not involved in it.
