YEREVAN. - Defense Minister of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan on Friday attended an event dedicated to the memory of Knight of 1st degree Combat Cross, Robert Abajyan.

The event held in Moscow Cinema was attended by Robert Abajyan’s family and relatives, as well as his military friends and servicemen, the press-service of the Defense Ministry reports. 

The participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the Armenian soldiers, who died when defending the borders of the homeland. Following this, a film telling about Robert Abajyan’s path and his feat was screened.

In his speech, Sargsyan expressed gratitude to Abajyan’s parents for bringing up a patriot and hero soldier. He also handed special Haykian award of the Youth Foundation of Armenia to Robert Abajyan’s parents for his extraordinary courage, selflessness and dedication when defending the borders of the homeland.
