Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan during which they agreed to promote ceasefire in Syria and to advance negotiation processes in Astana and Geneva, Kremlin reported.

“The Syrian settlement was discussed. It is agreed, in particular, to continue to support provision of a ceasefire in Syria and to advance negotiation processes in Astana and Geneva,” the statement reads.

The sides also discussed key issues of the Russian-Turkish relations, taking into account the agreements reached on March 10 at a meeting of High-Level Russian-Turkish Cooperation Council.
