YEREVAN. – The 69th anniversary of India's independence was marked in Yerevan on Friday.
The event was attended by representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan, parliamentarians, members of the Indian community.
In his welcoming speech, the Indian Ambassador to Armenia Yogeshwar Sangwan mentioned several significant events that took place last year, which will undoubtedly influence the development of relations between the countries.
In particular, he mentioned Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan last year’s visit to India, the visit of Indian Vice-President Mohammad Ansari to Armenia, and the lifting of visa restrictions.
“Based on the results of the high level visits, we will work to ensure that the relations between our countries will rise to a higher level,” the ambassador said.
Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Papikyan in turn noted that Armenia and India also cooperate in a multilateral format and within the framework of international organizations.
“We appreciate the assistance of the Indian government to the implementation of programs in the field of information technology, medicine and other spheres,” he said.
