Commenting on the publicizing of the US Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), the National Defense Ministry of China noted that the country continues to remain committed to the principle of non-use of nuclear weapons, and not to threaten countries without nuclear capabilities with that weapon, according to Kommersant newspaper of Russia.

“China’s nuclear threat [noted in the NPR] is exaggerated,” the Chinese side’s respective statement reads, in particular. “We are strongly against it.”

“We hope the US side will discard its ‘cold-war mentality,’ shoulder its own special and primary responsibility for nuclear disarmament, understand correctly China’s strategic intentions,” Chinese National Defense Ministry spokesman Ren Guoqiang said.

Also, he urged the US to meet China halfway to make military relations between the two sides a stable factor in bilateral relations, and jointly safeguard global peace, stability, and prosperity.

The Pentagon recently publicized the US Nuclear Posture Review. Also, the Department of Defense noted that in the case of an attack on the US with ordinary weapons, they do not rule out the using of nuclear weapons.
