The year 2010, as a post-crisis year, was rather hard for Armenia. However, the economic measures implemented by the Government resulted in positive tendencies, Gagik Minasyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance, Credit and Budgetary Affairs, RA Parliament, told journalists Jan 13.
“The Government funded the backbone sectors, small and medium enterprises. In this regard, rather impressive figures were recorded last year. The mining industry is rapidly developing. As a result we registered 10% industrial growth. A 2.5% economic growth was registered, which actually exceeded the budgeted targets. Industry proved economic locomotive,” Minasyan said.
Among last year’s positive economic tendencies, he pointed out increased exports. In 2007, exports constituted 17%, while we registered 21% last year. This tendency will go on this year. According to the draft budget, the share of exports is expected to reach 25%,” Minasyan said.
