No progress is expected in the Karabakh conflict resolution in 2011, as no significant breakthroughs were achieved in 2010, MP from Heritage Party Vardan Khachatryan told the reporters on January 13.

According to him, the expectations about the Karabakh conflict during the OSCE Summit in Astana were great, but they were not justified. However, the summit placed emphasis on the fact that decisive steps should be taken to resolve the conflict. In this regard, it should be stressed Azerbaijan is not so persistent in militant rhetoric now as a result of activities with international agencies, Khachatryan said.

The parliamentarian stressed it is difficult to expect critical changes in the conflict settlement. As U.S. experts say today Azerbaijan is not under the auspices of any center of power, which will be able to find a solution to the problem.

“Today Azerbaijan obviously put emphasis that the Karabakh conflict resolution should not be put off for 20-30- years. Azerbaijan has such kind of crystal dream,” the MP emphasized.
