he United States condemned Syria's decision to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Reuters reported.

 “These regions are part of Georgia. The United States’ position on Abkhazia and South Ossetia is unwavering,” U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a statement.

As reported earlier, Tbilisi has responded to Syrian decision to recognize the regions with severance of diplomatic relations with Damascus.
