Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland stated the situation in Karabakh conflict zone may spin out of control due to frequent skirmishes, breaking out in the line of contact.

“The recent incidents on the frontline claiming lives, may lead to grave consequences. Unless the conflict is resolved, the threat of war resumption will exist,” he said.

Jagland stressed joining the EU Armenia and Azerbaijan shouldered a duty to resolve Karabakh dispute peacefully. The diplomat expressed hope the situation will not aggravate in the conflict zone.
