Armenia welcomes the referendum held in South Sudan. The published preliminary results of the referendum, which surely will not be essentially different from the final results, confirmed one more time, that the self-determination is an inseparable right of every nation, said Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

The Minister noted since establishment of the UN, this choice of the people of South Sudan is the freshest example of the victory march of the right of self-determination, the right way to solve the existing problems that is absolutely welcomed by the international community, foreign office press service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We hope that by choosing the way of determining its own destiny, through expression of its will, South Sudan will succeed in the establishment and the accomplishment of an independent statehood,” Nalbandian said.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, according to official preliminary information about 99% of South Sudan citizens voted for independence from the North.
