The patience of the Armenian people is running out. The evidence thereof are the leader of the Armenian People’s Party Tigran Karapetyan’s demonstrations and a great number of participants in the protest actions in front of Yerevan City Hall, MP from Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) told reporters on January 31. “There is a sense of demise in the country. The socio-political life in Armenia is aggravating,” Galstyan said. According to her, prospects for change of power in the country are justified.

“The authorities’ failure in regulating a price for eggs and complications in giving pensions to pensioners indicate that the incumbent authorities are unable to overcome the social crisis in the country. This is a complete failure,” the MP stressed.

Commenting on the question whether social injustice may lead to riots in Armenia, Galstyan said: “I regret over the events in Egypt and Tunisia. God forbid these events to be repeated in Armenia, as social tolerance is important for us. It will be correct if we can turn a revolt into citizens’ demand to form high civic consciousness.”

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, tens of thousands of people demanding an end to the nearly 30-year rule of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak filled the streets of several Egyptian cities in an unusually large and violent burst of civil unrest. Mubarak dissolved the Government and said a new cabinet will be formed.
