At present there are two influential political forces in Armenia: Republican Party and Prosperous Armenia, said head of the Armenian Sociological Association Gevorg Poghosyan.
According to him, ARF Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD), Armenian National Congress and Tigran Karapetyan’s People’s Party are next in the list. The sociologist stressed that the ARFD is supported by 6-10% of voters.
Poghosyan noted that rating of almost all the political parties depends on their leaders. “Popularity of ARFD and Republican Party is not determined by their leader’s rating. The first is headed by a board, while the second’s rating does not depend on its leader. Even if the leader changes, party’s rating will hardly undergo any changes,” he said.
Sociologist also noted Armenians’ attitude towards elections is constantly negative. In fact the voters do not care who will win the elections, they need their problems to be solved.
