Hundreds of protestors tried to stage an anti-government protest in Aden, southern Yemen, but the police fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse them, leaving two people injured, RIA Novosti reports referring to AFP.

In another part of Aden, police arrested thirty people as they tried to stage a protest action to demand the release of prisoners, officials of the pro-independence Southern Movement said.

Tens of thousands of Yemenis have staged a “day of rage” calling for the departure of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, as government loyalists held a counter protest in the capital.
