YEREVAN. – Leader of Prosperous Armenia party Gagik Tsarukyan said his party decided to run in the snap election to the Yerevan Council of Elders as it is time for “new Armenia”.

“In the past all routes were passing through Melik Adamyan street [where the office of Republican Party of Armenia is located]. Now we have a chance to participate in the election and to present our program,” Tsarukyan said.

He recalled that during the detention of Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikaelyan and Ararat Mirzoyan, Prosperous Armenia announced its support for the opposition colleagues.

“Prosperous Armenia voted for Nikol Pashinyan to ensure legitimacy and to ensure that he received one third of the necessary votes,” he noted.
