YEREVAN. – President of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, Ara Babloyan, on Monday received Syrian Ambassador Mohammad Ahmad Haj Ibrahim.
First, Babloyan noted that Armenia will continue its productive cooperation with Syria, the NA informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. Also, he expressed a conviction that the ambassador will contribute to the further strengthening and development of Armenian-Syrian relations.
In addition, Ara Babloyan underscored the development of interparliamentary cooperation, and expressed gratitude to the Syrian legislature for its activities toward the recognition of Armenian Genocide.
The NA speaker expressed the hope that peace, political stability, and public solidarity will soon be established in Syria. Furthermore, Ara Babloyan noted that Armenia was ready to take part in the rebuilding of Syria.
Ambassador Ibrahim, for his part, assured that he will do his utmost to develop Syria-Armenia relations, and he noted that there was still a respective untapped potential in economy.
Also, the Syrian diplomat attached importance to the Syrian Armenian community’s part in the development of Syria-Armenia relations.
“What the people of Syria saw in these years is similar to what Armenians saw in Western Armenia,” Mohammad Ahmad Haj Ibrahim added.
