A 4.1% to 5.7% GDP growth is expected in Armenia this year, Artur Stepanyan, Head of the Monetary Policy Department, Central Bank of Armenia (CBA), told journalists February 7.
A 4.6% GDP growth is budgeted in Armenia for this year.
The CBA hopes fro growth in the agricultural sector, which, in turn, will increase market supply and reduce prices. Bad weather accounts for a 5% share in the price rise, whereas 2% price rise was registered in the international markets. A 9.4% price rise was registered last year. The CBA expects the added cost to increase by 7% to 9%.
According to the CBA report, lack of investments is the reason why the agricultural output hardly increases.
The CBA also expects the added cost to increase by 7% to 9% in the industrial sector, the main reason being the increase in the global metal output, as metal prices remain high.
