Eight people, 11 countries, 7 months, 88 thousand kilometers and a sailboat ... This is the journey of Armenians around the world, who arrived in Chile. The goal? To contact with the Armenian communities in different parts of the world, who have fled from Turkish reprisals during the First World War (1914-1918), - a phenomenon known as the Armenian Diaspora.

The leader of the expedition is 76-year-old physician and writer Zori Balayan, who has published 80 books on his travels around the world for more than four decades.

“Armenians are everywhere. We visit them, talk and video shoot, we contact them, go around looking for them”, he said.

Although the original route did not include Chile, the group decided to visit the country since the Chilean Armenians are cut off from other communities. Chile is home to only 100 Armenian families.

The Group is in Konkone and will take course in the direction of New Zealand to continue the journey to Australia, Indonesia, Singapore, India and finish at Valencia (Spain), where the journey started, funded by private donations.
